The Visage Transparent Face Mask Protects the Wearer and Improves Communication
During this current pandemic we have all become aware of how important it is to wear face masks, however, what has become more apparent is the importance of making communication easier especially for those hard of hearing or deaf.
We at Northwest Medical have developed the Visage Transparent Face Mask, a medical grade face mask that will aid communication but also protect the wearer. The face mask is both effective and safe and has been fully tested and approved to Transparent Face Mask Specification on Gov.UK.
- Tested EN14683 5.2.2 Bacterial filtration (resistance to penetration of bacteria)
- EN14683 5.2.3 Breathable (allowing the user to breathe effectively when wearing the face mask for long durations)
- EN14683 5.2.4 & 5.2.5 Splash Resistant and Microbial Cleanliness (the face mask is produced in a ISO Class 8 cleanroom ensuring no contaminants)
Note: Only the filter material is tested for BFE and breathability

The face mask, including the clear panel, is also certified as Antifog, and tested to European Standard EN166 7.3.2 as required by the specification. As the Visage Transparent Face Mask will be worn for long periods of time we have our masks tested for biocompatibility. The face masks again are tested to European standard EN ISO 10993. This test ensures that the materials used to manufacture the Visage Transparent Face Mask are not harmful (toxic or irritant) in any way to the user. We have also added seersucker ear loops for improved comfort.

The Visage Transparent Face Masks can be utilised in a number of different sectors. Although the UK Government specifications indicate that the face mask is for supporting improved communication in healthcare workers we see this mask being used in a number of different settings.

There are currently approximately 360 million deaf people on our planet excluding hearing impaired. The Visage Transparent Face Mask is critical for communication in lip reading. It can be used in Healthcare, Education, Speech Therapy and Hospitality.
How do our innovative Visage Transparent Face Masks work and what are they made of?
Transmission of coronavirus is thought to occur through respiratory droplets that are released when people breathe, sneeze or talk. What the Visage Transparent Face Mask does is effectively filter out these particles.
The mask contains a layer of Water Electret Meltblown and it is this layer that does all of the work filtering out those particles. Compared to standard Meltblown the Water Electret Meltblown has higher filtration efficiency (removing more particles) and lower resistance (easier to breathe).
All of the materials utilised are polypropylene and polyethylene. These materials are all non-toxic and are industry standard.
